Year of the Dog!

Year of the Dog!

Happy Lunar New Year! In Chinese Astrology 2018 is the year of the Dog. A perfect time to connect with the Earth Element. A time to get grounded, focus on friends, family, new projects, and being of service. Better yet, “This could be a year of hope, filled with dialogue that helps cultures achieve solidarity and reject indifference.” ~Mike Clark

With so much going on in the world, it can be very difficult for some of us to stay grounded. If you need help:

Spend time in Nature-studies show spending time in nature lowers concentrations of cortisol (stress hormone), lowers blood pressure and heart rate while increasing energy levels.

Get Acupuncture-the five elements exist in all of us and there are many Acupuncture points which are directly connected to the earth element. Chronic digestive issue are a common symptom of an earth element imbalance.

Reiki- helps clear and balance the the root chakra which is associated with basic survival needs, feeling safe, grounded, and mentally stable.

Essential Oils- essential oils are produced by plants which cannot survive without the nourishment of Mother Nature. Simply smelling, or applying specific oils directly onto the skin or acupuncture points can quickly facilitate a grounding effect.

Meditation- According to Mayo Clinic, research suggests the emotional benefits of meditation include:

*Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations
*Building skills to manage stress
*Increasing self-awareness
*Focusing on the present
*Reducing negative emotions
